The UAE Ministry of Education has announced that schools will function for a maximum of 5 hours during the Holy month of Ramadan. According to a statement issued to local Arabic media, the school timings will action from May 28, 2017, onwards. “The school day during the month of Ramadan in all schools will be a maximum of five hours,” announced the ministry. As per ministry’s announcement, boys’ schools will start at 8 am, while girls’ schools and pupils in kindergarten will start at 9 am. Physical exercises and demanding activities will be suspended as part of Ramadan. Morning assemblies will be cancelled, according to the ministry. Break time and class periods will be reduced to adhere to the Ramadan timings. The Ramadan timings will be observed until the end of the school term 2016-2017, on June 22.
