Participants will recite poetry in Arabic and English on topics such as peace, sustainability, hope, happiness, and friendship.


This week, students from 40 schools in the UAE will showcase their poetry talents at 'The 13th Edition of The Poetic Heart – Connecting Humanity.

SGI Gulf is organizing the annual convention, which will take place in the Emirates Institute of Finance Auditorium at Dubai International Academic City on 8 February from 9 am to 1.30 pm. It aims to encourage students to love poetry and to understand other cultures.


The theme of this year, "Building a Sustainable Future Together," highlights the importance and necessity of sustainability.

Participants will recite poetry in Arabic and English on topics such as sustainability and peace. They'll also touch upon happiness and friendship. Among the 40 participating schools are notable schools such as Abu Dhabi Indian School and Manor Hall International School Al Ain.

The event will be graced by renowned poets such as Dr Shihab Ghanem, Silavana Salamanpur, and others. The event will feature recitations from Dr. Daisaku's poetry. Students of determination from Al Noor Training Centre, Manzil, and other institutions will perform at the symposium. The emphasis is on inclusivity.

A particular highlight was the SGI Gulf's chorus group, Naseem. This group has participated in Poetic Heart's Poetic Heart event since 2014. They sang songs about peace, friendship, and invincible humanism. SGI Gulf Chairman Suresh Premkumar stated that the event aimed to explore human values via art and culture.

SGI Gulf, in collaboration with UAE poet Dr Shihab Ghanem, conceived the Poetic Heart Symposium in 2012. The goal was to make it the leading festival in the UAE and the region that celebrates poetry, embraces cultures, and is a celebration of different cultures. The convention is centered around a theme that focuses on friendship and cultural ties within the community.
