The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) announced the recruitment of almost 900 new teachers including Emiratis, Arabs and other nationalities to work in schools across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra Region. The recruitment is part of ADEC’s efforts to meet the needs of schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in preparation for the 2017-2018 new school year. H.E. Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, ADEC’S Director General, attended the orientation session for the new hires along with H.E. Mr. Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC’s School Operations Executive Director, Dr. Khalid Al Abri, Personnel Services Division Manager, Dr. Sara Al-Suwaidi, Curriculum Division Manager and a number of ADEC’s senior officials. The session aimed to provide teachers with information about Curriculum applied in Abu Dhabi schools and an overview of ADEC's vision, mission, human resources services and policies, as well as about educational programs and initiatives. The new hires were also briefed on ADEC's training and professional development programs as well as the teacher evaluation process and criteria, and were introduced to the UAE’s culture and traditions. Dr. Al Nuaimi lauded the support of UAE’s prudent leadership and encouraged the new teachers to innovate, adopt advanced pedagogies, and have strong determination and ambition to develop the educational system. “We are looking to boost the loyalty of our future generations who will lead the progress in their country with honor and pride. To achieve this, we need new and innovative ideas to enrich and develop education, and our new teachers are the new spirit of the education system. We count on teachers to achieve a great leap in education and address challenges as they are our key players in the overall development, and with their efforts I am sure better learning outcomes will be achieved,” said ADEC’s Director General. ADEC's recruitment and employment criteria are based on the competencies of the candidates and school needs. Among these criteria’s are relevance of teacher’s majors, educational skills, IT skills, proficiency in English and others. The newly recruited teachers expressed their appreciation and gratitude to ADEC for its efforts in organizing the orientation session and expressed their willingness to become role models for students while adhering to ADEC's policies and strategies in preparing well educated, creative, innovative and accountable generations of youth.
