KHDA Inspection Results (Decoded)
Arabic as a First Language attainment sits at Acceptable in PYP and MYP - a significant concern given that 47% of students are Arabic A learners and the largest student nationality is Emirati. Inspectors recommend a more rigorous approach to Arabic as an Additional Language in MYP, with higher expectations for student engagement and quality assessment practices.
The school's PIRLS score of 541 missed its National Agenda target by 42 points. Action plans for improving reading literacy lack specific measurable targets for Emirati boys in particular. Inspectors recommend reviewing the impact of reading interventions and setting more challenging, group-specific targets.

Fees & Value for Money
Uptown International School (UIS) offers an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum from Nursery through Grade 12, with tuition fees for the 2025–26 academic year ranging from AED 31,145 (Nursery) to AED 78,420 (Grades 11–12). Fees are structured across three terms, with Term 1 carrying a higher proportion (approximately 40%) and Terms 2 and 3 each accounting for around 30%. Notably, the published fees include required books, which are provided to students on a loan basis and returned at the end of term or academic year — representing genuine added value compared to schools that charge separately for learning materials.
As a Taaleem-managed school rated Very Good by KHDA, UIS offers competitive value within the Dubai IB school market. Corporate discounts are available for Emirates Airlines and National Bonds employees, and a 10% sibling discount applies to the third (youngest) and subsequent child from the same family attending any Taaleem school in Dubai. Credit card holders can also benefit from 0% instalment conversion on school payments, easing cash flow for families.
Additional costs to budget for include a one-time application fee of AED 500 + 5% VAT, a non-refundable registration fee for new students, and a re-registration fee for returning students. Transportation is provided by a third-party operator (Arab Falcon Dubai) at variable rates depending on location. External examination fees and enrichment/ECA programme charges may also apply and will be communicated in advance.

The Final Verdict: Who Is This School For?
THE “RIGHT FIT”
Families seeking a full IB continuum from Nursery to Grade 12 in Mirdif, particularly those who value inquiry-based learning, strong inclusion provision, a genuinely multicultural community of 80-plus nationalities, and a school with a sustained Very Good KHDA track record and Outstanding personal development outcomes.
THE “WRONG FIT”
Families who prioritise strong Arabic language outcomes above all else - the school's Arabic attainment data at PYP and MYP level is Acceptable, not Good or better - or families seeking the lowest-cost IB option in Dubai, as registration and additional fees add meaningfully to the published tuition figures.
My kids have enjoyed being a part of a truly international school with a great IB program. They are not only growing in knowledge, but in practical skills that will benefit them the rest of their lives. But for me, the greatest thing is that they love going to school.
