Philadelphia Private School offers one of Dubai's more distinctive academic pathways among American curriculum schools: a full Pre-KG to Grade 12 programme built on the California State Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards, culminating in the American High School Diploma, with two advanced qualification layers available in the senior years. Students in Grades 10–12 may sit Advanced Placement (AP) examinations, while Grades 11 and 12 also have access to the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) — making PPS one of a relatively small number of American curriculum schools in Dubai to offer both pathways simultaneously. Dubai has 42 American curriculum schools in total; the dual AP and IB DP offer places PPS in a more selective subset of that group.

The school's external results are a genuine strength. In 2024–25 AP examinations, 108 students participated, with 92% achieving grades 3 or above and 57% achieving grades 4–5 — a benchmark WhichSchoolAdvisor notes meets KHDA criteria for Outstanding academic achievement. The school's inaugural IB Diploma results in 2025 are equally notable: an average IB score of 35.2, above the global IB average, with 67% of students achieving 36 points or more — a threshold widely associated with entry to leading universities in the US and internationally. The cohort size has not been disclosed, which limits direct comparison, but the scores themselves are competitive. Standardised MAP test scores improved between 2022 and 2023 across science, mathematics, reading and language usage, with science showing the strongest gains.

The 2023–24 KHDA inspection awarded PPS a Good overall rating — a meaningful milestone after ten consecutive Acceptable ratings dating back to 2013–14. Among the 42 American curriculum schools in Dubai, 22 hold a Good rating and only one holds Very Good, placing PPS within the majority tier but with clear headroom for further improvement. Inspectors rated mathematics and science achievement Good across all phases, and confirmed that teaching has improved to Good in all phases following targeted professional development. The Inclusion programme — which supports 39 students of determination and a dedicated Gifted and Talented strand — was rated Good, as was overall wellbeing provision. Health, safety and child protection were rated Very Good across all phases, one of the report's standout findings.

What makes PPS academically distinctive beyond its results is the integration of a Peace Education philosophy — developed by Principal Dr. Nabil Husni, founder of the Peace Education Society — woven through the curriculum from KG to Grade 12. UAE social studies and moral education are taught as an integrated subject across all grades, structured around monthly themes such as conflict resolution and sustainability, and anchored in the school's PACER values framework. A BYOD policy for Grades 6–12, campus-wide high-speed wireless, and an online supplementary mathematics programme reflect a deliberate technology-integrated teaching approach. Languages of instruction are English and Arabic, with French and Spanish also offered, supporting the school's multilingual ethos.

Inspectors identified several areas requiring attention. Performance in Islamic Education and Arabic remains Acceptable in Middle and High School, with attainment in Arabic as a First Language rated Acceptable across all secondary phases — a persistent gap that will likely feature in future inspections. English attainment, while Good in KG and Elementary, also drops to Acceptable at Middle and High, though progress remains Good throughout. Inspectors flagged inconsistency in teaching quality across subjects and phases, insufficient use of assessment data to personalise learning, and limited opportunities for students to engage with environmental sustainability. Compared to peer American curriculum schools in Dubai that have achieved Very Good or Outstanding ratings, PPS has further work to do in raising attainment consistency in the upper school and in Arabic and Islamic Education — areas that remain below the standard set in core subjects.
