Pearl British Academy delivers the English National Curriculum (EYFS through Key Stage 2, FS1 to Year 6) via an inquiry and project-based learning model, supplemented by Arabic, Islamic Studies, and UAE Social Studies taught in accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines. As a primary-only school serving ages 3 to 11, the academic programme is tightly focused — there are no secondary pathways on site — but students benefit from a priority placement route into Aldar Education's affiliated secondary schools, where they can progress to I/GCSEs, A-Levels, or the IB Diploma Programme.

The school's academic performance data is notably strong in the core subjects. In TIMSS 2023, Year 5 students achieved 548 in Mathematics (international average: 503) and 546 in Science (international average: 494), exceeding global benchmarks in both disciplines. In PIRLS 2021, Year 5 students recorded a reading score of 590.22, placing them above the high international benchmark — a meaningful indicator of literacy development in the primary years. Standardised GL assessment results for 2023/24 further reinforce this picture: GL-PTE English attainment and progress were both rated Outstanding for Phase 2, while GL-PTS Science attainment was Outstanding with Very Good progress. The ACER-IBT Arabic as a second language result was Outstanding for Phase 2.

The 2024–25 ADEK inspection awarded Pearl an overall Very Good rating — a position it has held since 2022–23, having previously held the top Outstanding rating in 2019–20. Among British curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi, this places Pearl within a competitive tier: of the 105 British curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi, only a minority hold Very Good or Outstanding ratings. Science achievement was specifically judged Outstanding across both phases, and Assessment was rated Outstanding in Phase 1. The school's High Performance Learning framework, Maker Spaces, Apple Distinguished School status, and digital reading platform (A to Z) distinguish its teaching approach, while the Pearl Parliament, Cultural Ambassadors, and Eco-Ambassadors programmes integrate civic and values-based learning into the curriculum.

Inspectors identified several areas requiring attention. Arabic remains the most significant academic gap: attainment in Arabic as a first language was rated Acceptable in Phase 1, and inspectors flagged weaknesses in reading fluency, pronunciation, Standard Arabic speaking, and extended writing across Phase 2. UAE Social Studies attainment in Phase 2 declined to Acceptable since the previous inspection. Inspectors also noted that gifted and talented students are not consistently receiving sufficient challenge, that teacher talk in lessons reduces student reflection time, and that innovation and enterprise skills require development. TIMSS scores, while above international averages, remain below the school's own targets of 599 in Mathematics and 577 in Science — a gap the school is actively addressing through curriculum-aligned TIMSS-style tasks and parental engagement workshops. These findings collectively explain why the school has not yet returned to its pre-pandemic Outstanding rating, and represent the clearest roadmap for improvement.
