Abu Dhabi International Private School - Karamah offers one of the most academically layered programs in the city, combining the American Curriculum (KG–Grade 12) with a British Programme (IGCSE, AS, and A-Level, Grades 9–12) and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Grades 11 and 12. This tri-curriculum architecture is rare among Abu Dhabi's 42 American curriculum schools, giving families genuine choice at the senior secondary stage. High school students can pursue four distinct Advanced Placement (AP) tracks — Engineering, Medical & Health Sciences, Economics & Business, and Liberal Arts — or elect the internationally recognised IB Diploma, making AIS Karamah one of a small number of schools in the emirate offering both AP and IB pathways under one roof.

Academic performance data paints a broadly positive picture, particularly in mathematics and science. On TIMSS 2023, students exceeded international averages across all four tested areas: Grade 4 Mathematics scored 572 against an international average of 503, Grade 8 Mathematics scored 544 against an average of 478, Grade 4 Science scored 577 against 494, and Grade 8 Science scored 561 against 478 — all placing students at the high proficiency benchmark and meeting or surpassing the school's own targets. PIRLS reading literacy returned a score of 570.62, also within the high international proficiency benchmark. PISA 2022 results for British curriculum students were similarly strong: Reading 533, Mathematics 556, and Science 581, all above PISA international averages. American curriculum PISA results were more mixed — Reading 493 and Science 486 sat marginally above international averages, while Mathematics 441 fell below the international average of 472, a gap inspectors noted as requiring targeted attention. The school's overall external exam pass rate stands at 97% across IBDP, British, and American programmes.

ADEK's 2025 Irtiqa inspection awarded AIS Karamah a Very Good rating — a result sustained from the 2022 inspection and placing the school among the higher-performing institutions in Abu Dhabi. Among American curriculum schools nationally, only 1 of 42 holds a Very Good rating, making this outcome notably above the norm for this curriculum type. The school holds ADEK Band A (High-Performing) status, and inspectors specifically recognised the Gifted & Talented programme and Inclusion/SEN provision as best-practice examples. The school reserves 5% of its student body for students of determination, and its inclusion infrastructure — counselling services, dedicated SEN support, and differentiated curriculum adaptation — was rated Very Good across all phases.

Distinctive academic enrichment includes the Act & Impact Community Service Program, which integrates real-world service learning across local and global contexts, and the DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) initiative, a school-wide daily reading routine supported by a renovated central library housing 18,857 texts. Digital learning tools including MAP Growth assessments, EPIC, HMH Waggle, and WebQuest are embedded across phases. University destinations on record include Harvard University, Columbia University, NYU, and UC Berkeley, reflecting the school's college preparation focus.

Inspectors identified several areas requiring improvement. Teaching quality in Cycle 2 (Phase 3) regressed to Good, with concerns about excessive teacher talk and insufficient student-centred learning. Mathematics attainment in Phase 4 regressed from Outstanding to Very Good. MAP progress data showed Weak progress in reading and mathematics across Phases 2, 3, and 4, a significant concern given strong attainment scores. Inspectors also flagged the need for a dedicated campus leadership team at the Karamah site, more consistent marking and feedback practices, and stronger alignment between curriculum delivery and the cognitive demands of international benchmarks. Compared to peer schools offering both AP and IB pathways, the curriculum design and adaptation ratings of Good — rather than Very Good — across all phases suggest room to close the gap with Abu Dhabi's highest-performing multi-curriculum schools.
