
Global Indian International School offers Global Montessori Plus (GMP) for Pre-KG and KG students, transitioning into the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) framework from Grade 1 through Grade 12. The 2024–25 Irtiqa inspection awarded GIIS a Good overall rating — consistent with its 2023–24 result and placing it among the 14 Indian curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi rated Good out of 34. Academic performance is uneven across subjects and phases. English is a clear strength: attainment reached Very Good in Cycle 3 (Phase 4), CBSE Grade 10 data shows a large majority of students attaining above curriculum standards, and the school exceeded its PISA 2022 Reading target with a score of 454. Students also performed within the High International Benchmark range in PIRLS 2021. In standardised EI ASSET testing, Grades 3–4 Science attained outstanding levels and Grades 5 and 7 English attained outstanding levels. UAE Social Studies attainment and progress are rated Very Good across all phases — a notable improvement since the previous inspection. Mathematics, however, presents a more concerning picture: attainment and progress declined to Acceptable in Cycle 3, and the school's PISA 2022 Mathematics score of 466 fell below both its own target and the international average. Science attainment also remains Acceptable in the upper secondary phase. Assessment practice was rated Acceptable across all phases — a regression from the previous cycle — and is identified as a priority concern.
The school's most distinctive academic features centre on its enrichment infrastructure. The Global Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, dedicated STEAM rooms, and the Global Montessori Plus early years environment with purpose-built Montessori labs and a KG library provide a practical learning ecosystem that goes beyond standard CBSE delivery. The Bridge Programme supports transition from primary to middle years, while Career Mapping and University Connect Programs serve senior students. The Hey Math online platform is deployed to support Mathematics, and the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme underpins early literacy. Participation in AQAD, Qutuhal innovation competitions, and the Al Tasamuh inter-campus competitions extends learning beyond the classroom. The school's membership of Global Schools Group (GSG), a network of 64 campuses across 11 countries, provides access to shared resources and international benchmarking that smaller independent CBSE schools cannot replicate.
Inspectors identified several areas requiring urgent attention. Assessment regressed to Acceptable across all phases, with marking and feedback policies inconsistently applied. Teaching quality, while Good in most phases and Very Good in Cycle 2, remains variable — inspectors called for more open questioning, greater critical thinking opportunities, and better differentiation for both higher attainers and 27 enrolled students of determination. Arabic as a Second Language attainment and progress remain Acceptable across all phases, a persistent weakness. Middle leadership development and the evaluative rigour of the school's self-evaluation process were also flagged. Student attendance was explicitly cited as requiring improvement to reach at least a Good standard. Compared to peer Indian curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi where 10 of 34 schools hold a Very Good rating, GIIS has room to move up the performance ladder — but will need to address assessment consistency and upper-secondary Mathematics before that becomes realistic.
