Al Resalah American International School - branch Al Rahmaniyah follows the American Common Core State Standards (CCSS) framework, integrated with the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) curriculum, spanning Pre-KG through Grade 12 for students aged 3 to 18. The academic pathway culminates in a US High School Diploma, with upper school students able to pursue Advanced Placement (AP) courses through the AP College Board examination programme — providing a recognised route to competitive university entry. The school is accredited by Cognia, one of the world's largest education accreditation bodies, lending external validation to its academic standards.

RAIS sits within a sizeable peer group: 42 American curriculum schools operate in Sharjah, making it the second most common curriculum type in the city after British. Among those 42 schools, 22 hold a Good rating, 16 are rated Acceptable, and only 1 has achieved Very Good — meaning RAIS's current Good rating from the 2023–2024 SPEA School Performance Review places it in the upper tier of American curriculum schools locally. Crucially, this represents a meaningful step forward: the school was rated Acceptable in 2022–2023, and the improvement to Good within a single cycle reflects well-directed leadership effort.

The 2024 review, conducted by a team of 6 reviewers across 182 lesson observations, identified students' progress in almost all subjects across all phases as a headline strength. In English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, the majority of students attain above curriculum standards across KG, Elementary, Middle, and High phases. External MAP assessment results show improvement, particularly with students in High School attaining very good levels in English. The school also deploys a broad suite of benchmarking tools — including SAT, AP, EmSAT, PISA, CAT4, MAP, PIRLS, TIMSS, and TALA — demonstrating a data-informed approach to tracking academic progress. Inspectors specifically commended the school's use of assessment information to influence teaching and the curriculum as a key strength.

Specialist provision is a genuine differentiator. RAIS operates dedicated programmes for Students of Determination (SEN/Inclusion), Gifted and Talented learners, and English as an Additional Language (EAL) students, overseen by a qualified Inclusion Lead. A STEM programme is embedded across phases, supported by fully equipped science labs, ICT labs, and an Innovation Lab — where students have, for example, built hydraulic models in STEM lessons. All classrooms are fitted with interactive smart boards and full internet connectivity. University destinations include Heriot Watt, American University in Dubai, and American University of Sharjah, with graduates progressing to medical and business pathways.

Inspectors were candid about areas requiring development. Students' achievement in national and international standard tests needs to reach the next level across the school. Teaching and learning quality — particularly in Islamic Education in Middle School and Arabic in High School — was flagged for improvement, with Arabic extended writing skills underdeveloped across Elementary, Middle, and High. The review also called for more innovative and challenging teaching that inspires all students to maximise achievement, noting that higher-attaining students are not consistently stretched, particularly in reading and writing in High School. A teacher turnover rate of 19% warrants monitoring, as staff continuity directly affects the consistency of provision. Compared to peer American curriculum schools in Sharjah that have reached Very Good or Outstanding, RAIS has ground to cover in elevating attainment data to match the progress its students demonstrably make in lessons.
