The Executive Summary

Noya British School Abu Dhabi is Aldar Education's bold experiment in delivering premium-quality British schooling at a mid-market price point on Yas Island. Opened in September 2024 under Founding Principal Sarah Isberg, this UK National Curriculum Abu Dhabi school is the first English National Curriculum option on the island and the flagship of Aldar's new 'Aldar Schools' value tier. With School fees Abu Dhabi families will scrutinise carefully, ranging from AED 32,000 in Foundation Stage to AED 47,000 in Sixth Form, Noya undercuts established Aldar Academies by 30-40% while offering near-identical facilities. The ADEK rating is pending its first inspection cycle, but a voluntary British Schools Overseas inspection in early 2026 rated the school Outstanding in four of five performance standards -- a remarkable outcome for a school in only its fourth term of operation. This school is best suited to expatriate and Emirati families living in Yas Acres, The Sustainable City, Yas North or Reem Island who want a British curriculum, modern facilities and community feel without paying the AED 60K-90K demanded by premium Yas Island schools competitors. It is not the right fit for families seeking decade-long exam pedigree, a guaranteed Outstanding ADEK track record, or a small-cohort, ultra-personalised setting -- with planned capacity of 3,000 students and class sizes of up to 27, this is a large, fast-growing institution still finding its feet in the upper years. For value-conscious parents willing to back a credible Aldar-backed start-up, Noya offers genuinely impressive value-for-money.

Noya British School is going to be the best school in Abu Dhabi -- I can feel it. The staff and parents are extremely driven and working hard to collaboratively raise the school to its highest potential. The community surrounding the school is unlike anything I've seen before.

Foundation Stage Mother

Academic Framework & Learning Style

Noya British School delivers the National Curriculum for England, anchored in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for FS1 and FS2, progressing through Key Stages 1-4 toward IGCSE qualifications, and ultimately International A Levels in Sixth Form. The school is following a 'natural growth' model -- it opened FS1 to Year 6 in September 2024, added Years 7-9 in 2025-26, and will progressively roll out to Year 13 over the coming years. As a result, there are no published exam results yet; the first IGCSE cohort is several years away, and parents enrolling in upper years are placing trust in the school's academic ambitions rather than in proven track record. The pedagogical signature here is High Performance Learning (HPL), a framework that explicitly rejects fixed-ability thinking and teaches students to shift from 'I can't do it' to 'I can't do it yet.' This is paired with a 'Positive Education' philosophy championed by Principal Isberg, who places wellbeing at the heart of academic ambition. Classrooms blend traditional direct instruction with project-based and inquiry-led learning, and a partnership with UK provider 8billion Ideas adds an enrichment curriculum focused on entrepreneurship, careers, life skills, wellbeing and performance. Student-centred classrooms use integrated technology, hands-on activities and digital literacy from the earliest years. Academic support is taken seriously: an experienced Head of Inclusion leads SEN provision, supported by specialist staff and a dedicated Sensory/Therapy room. EAL provision is built into core practice given the 73-nationality student demographics, and Gifted & Talented identification is embedded within the HPL framework rather than treated as a bolt-on. The school has not yet built a university destinations record (no graduating cohort), but the Aldar Education group network -- which sends students to Russell Group, Ivy League and top regional universities each year -- provides a credible benchmark for what graduates can expect.

Extracurricular Activities (ECAs)

The extracurricular programme at Noya is built on a hybrid model that distinguishes it from many newer schools: teacher-led activities run weekly in-school, while a formal partnership with Infinite Sports brings specialist external coaching in football, cricket, gymnastics and swimming. Crucially, Infinite Sports also operates wrap-around care across the school week (including Friday afternoon activities) and runs holiday camps -- a meaningful logistical win for working parents on Yas Island. Current ECA offerings span Arts & Crafts, Ballet, Dance, Drama, Football, Gymnastics, Music, Robotics, Rugby, Scrapbook, and Swimming, with the menu expanding as the school adds upper year groups and student demand diversifies. Performing arts are given proper infrastructure rather than token support: two dedicated music rooms, a dance studio, a music/dance multipurpose room and a main hall with stage and retractable auditorium seating provide proper venues for productions and concerts. The Year 6 SDG Exhibition in mid-2026 -- a sustainability-themed showcase that drew Aldar-wide recognition -- demonstrates a developing project-based and community-service ethos. Competitive sport leverages Aldar Education's A-League inter-school network, giving Noya students access to fixtures across Aldar's 31 schools. Facilities back this up: a full-sized artificial football pitch, indoor and outdoor multipurpose courts, rooftop sports decks and two swimming pools (a learner pool and a semi-Olympic pool) are unusually generous for a value-tier school. Duke of Edinburgh and Model UN are not yet running but are typical of the Aldar Academies playbook and likely to follow as Sixth Form opens.

Pastoral Care & Well-being

Pastoral care is arguably Noya's strongest cultural pillar, owing largely to Principal Sarah Isberg's explicit grounding in positive education with wellbeing at the heart of all we do. The school's daily rituals reflect this -- staff greet students individually each morning, a parent café at the school entrance functions as a daily community hub, and routines like 'Mindful Monday' for FS1 children embed wellbeing as a habit rather than a slogan. Safeguarding follows ADEK standards and Aldar Education group policy, with clear reporting protocols, trained Designated Safeguarding Leads and regular staff training. Counselling provision is in place, with the inclusion team supporting both academic and emotional needs through the Sensory/Therapy room and individual interventions. Anti-bullying frameworks are integrated into the personal development curriculum and reinforced through classroom routines and the broader 8billion Ideas wellbeing pillar. Student voice mechanisms are still maturing -- a function of a school in only its second year of operation -- but house systems and student leadership opportunities are being progressively introduced as upper years come online. The community feel is something parents repeatedly highlight: families live within walking and cycling distance, dedicated cycle paths connect the school to Noya, Yas Acres and The Sustainable City, and parent engagement at school events has been described by Principal Isberg as exceptionally supportive. For families relocating to Yas Island, this small-village atmosphere within a large school is one of Noya's most distinctive selling points.

The teachers and staff are all friendly and supportive of both parents and kids. We feel very welcomed, and I hope this wonderful environment continues to be the best in the future.

Campus & Facilities

Noya occupies a purpose-built, brand-new campus in North Yas Island, strategically positioned opposite Gateway Park and within walking and cycling distance of Yas Acres, The Sustainable City and Noya Community. Spread across two buildings and two floors, the campus offers a built-up area of approximately 25,000 square metres, designed to grow to a full operating capacity of 3,000 students. Facilities are exceptional for a value-tier school -- genuinely indistinguishable from premium Aldar Academies on most counts. Sport is particularly well-resourced: a full-sized artificial football pitch, an indoor primary sports hall, an indoor multipurpose hall with stage and retractable auditorium seating (basketball, netball, volleyball, four badminton courts), shaded multipurpose courts, rooftop multipurpose courts (two basketball, two netball, two volleyball, six badminton), a shaded outdoor primary swimming pool and a semi-Olympic pool. Academic specialist spaces include eight secondary science laboratories, a primary science lab, two secondary art rooms, two music rooms, a dedicated dance room, primary and secondary digital technology laboratories, primary and secondary ICT/Mac suites, separate primary and secondary libraries, and an FS reading room. Classrooms across the school are digitally interactive with smartboards as standard, and Foundation Stage features a central shared discovery zone with each FS classroom opening onto its own outdoor learning space. Sixth Form benefits from two senior common rooms with rooftop deck access. Other distinctive elements include a parents' café, separate primary and secondary dining halls, and a covered outdoor atrium for assemblies and community events. Phase 2 expansion activates the second floor for Years 7-13 as enrolment grows. Location-wise, the campus is roughly 15-20 minutes from central Abu Dhabi and serves a residential catchment that is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most sought-after family neighbourhoods in the emirate.

Teaching & Learning Quality

Noya operates with a teaching and support staff body of approximately 120, drawn from a deliberately diverse range of nationalities -- British, Irish, South African and Filipino are all well represented, with most teachers having prior international school experience in the UAE. This is a notable departure from premium Aldar Academies, where staffing has historically been more heavily weighted toward UK-trained citizens. The school is transparent that this mixed-nationality model is a core feature of its value proposition rather than a compromise -- but parents should weigh whether that aligns with their expectations. The teaching team includes Ministry of Education subject specialists for Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies, alongside qualified teachers delivering the National Curriculum for England. Class sizes are capped in line with ADEK regulations: maximums sit around 25 students in Foundation Stage and 27 in primary year groups, with the school operating an average of four classes per year group at primary level (eight at full capacity). Continuous Professional Development is a stated priority, particularly given the diverse staff backgrounds -- Aldar Education invests heavily in cross-school training and best-practice transfer across its 31-school network, giving Noya staff access to the wider group's professional learning calendar. The High Performance Learning framework drives differentiation, while integrated technology (1:1 device readiness, Mac suites, digital technology labs) supports blended pedagogy. Teacher retention data is not yet meaningful given the school's age, but staff turnover in a Year 1 of operations is naturally higher than at established schools -- something to monitor over the next two academic cycles.

Leadership & Management

Founding Principal Sarah Isberg brings a substantial international portfolio to Noya, having previously served as Principal at Al Maharat Private School and worked across schools in the UAE, UK and Europe. Her stated philosophy -- 'a child gets one chance at education' -- frames her leadership as both ambitious and protective, and she has been visibly hands-on during the school's foundational period. Her message to parents emphasises stretching the most able while supporting the least confident, a classic British comprehensive ethos translated to an international school setting. The school is owned and operated by Aldar Education, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-listed property giant Aldar Properties. Aldar Education is the largest private education provider in Abu Dhabi, operating and managing 31 schools serving approximately 38,000 students with a faculty drawn from over 100 nationalities. Noya is positioned as the flagship of Aldar's new 'Aldar Schools' value tier, distinct from the premium 'Aldar Academies' brand -- a strategic move announced in February 2022 alongside a stated AED 1 billion investment programme to broaden access across price points. Parent communication runs through a digital portal and app, alongside regular parent-teacher conferences, leadership tours and admissions events. Governance sits within the Aldar Education group structure, with school-level leadership accountable to the Aldar Education executive team and ultimately to the Aldar Properties board. Strategic direction is clear: build a credible British curriculum offering that delivers Outstanding-quality outcomes at a value price -- a thesis that the BSO inspection result has already begun to validate.

Fees & Value for Money

Noya is positioned squarely as a mid-range school in Abu Dhabi's competitive private education market. ADEK-approved tuition runs from AED 32,000 in Foundation Stage to AED 47,000 in Year 12-13, with an average annual fee of approximately AED 38,500. For families enrolling in the first two years of operation (2024-25 and 2025-26), Aldar applied a AED 4,000 founding discount across all year groups -- effectively dropping FS-Y1 fees to AED 28,000 and capping Sixth Form at AED 43,000. This founding discount is no longer applicable for new 2026-27 enrolments, which revert to the full ADEK-approved schedule shown below. When benchmarked against peer Yas Island schools and Aldar's premium academies (which charge AED 60,000-90,000+), Noya represents genuine value-for-money -- particularly given that facilities, leadership and pedagogical framework are largely identical to the higher-tier Aldar Academies. The catch is the maturity discount: parents are paying less because the school has no exam track record and is still building out its upper years. Tuition does not include uniform, food services, transport, examination fees or external extracurricular activities, all of which should be budgeted separately. 0% interest payment plans through partner banks (FAB, ADIB, ENBD) make spreading fees over monthly instalments straightforward. For families confident in the Aldar Education brand and willing to back a fast-growing start-up, Noya offers some of the best value in the British curriculum Abu Dhabi market.

The Final Verdict: Who Is This School For?

Noya British School is a credible, well-resourced and pedagogically ambitious option for families who want British curriculum quality without premium-tier fees -- and who are willing to back a school still building its track record. The Aldar Education backing materially de-risks the bet: this is not an unproven independent operator but the flagship of a 31-school network with deep operational and academic expertise. The early BSO Outstanding judgements in four of five standards are a meaningful external validation, and Principal Sarah Isberg has set a high bar for the school's identity around wellbeing, inclusion and high expectations. That said, Noya is not for everyone. Families who need proven exam outcomes now, who are uncomfortable with mixed-nationality teaching staff, or who want the small-cohort intimacy of a boutique school will find better fits elsewhere. With planned capacity of 3,000 students and class sizes up to 27, this is a large institution -- and one whose upper years (Years 10-13) are still being built. For the right family, however, Noya is one of the most compelling new entrants to the Yas Island schools market in years.

THE “RIGHT FIT”

Families living in Yas North, Yas Acres, The Sustainable City or Reem Island who want a British curriculum, modern facilities and a strong community feel at a mid-range price point -- and who are confident enrolling their child in FS1 to Year 9 where the school is most established.

THE “WRONG FIT”

Families demanding a long-established exam pedigree (no IGCSE/A Level results yet), those seeking small-cohort boutique schooling, or parents who specifically want a predominantly UK-trained teaching faculty rather than Aldar's mixed-nationality value model.

Noya British School has been a wonderful place for my child to flourish academically, thanks to dedicated staff and an engaging curriculum that truly fosters growth. The teachers are caring, and my kids are happy and learning well.
