Modern Skills School L.L.C is led by Principal Stephanie Lucille Chattman, who holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and has been in post since 20 August 2021. Prior to joining SMS, she held senior leadership roles at Universal American School, bringing substantial experience in US curriculum environments serving both expatriate and Emirati student populations. Her appointment represents a degree of leadership continuity, with the school now in its fourth year under her direction.

DSIB's 2023–2024 inspection rated governance Good and parents and community Good — two of the stronger findings in an otherwise mixed report. Inspectors noted that stakeholders' perspectives actively inform governance, and the school has developed a layer of instructional leaders across departments. However, the inspection also found that these newly developed instructional leaders are focusing on teaching methodologies but not yet on students' outcomes, and that self-evaluation lacks rigor, with improvement plans emphasising completion of actions over measurable results. These are substantive concerns that parents should weigh carefully.

Teaching quality is described as inconsistent: inspectors found good subject knowledge among teachers and stronger practice in KG and High School, but noted that more capable students are not consistently challenged and that critical thinking and independent learning lack rigour across the middle phases. The largest teacher nationality group is Egyptian, and the inspection noted that staff qualifications vary, with some teachers struggling to deliver the curriculum effectively.

With 121 teachers serving 1,697 students, SMS operates at a student-teacher ratio of 1:14, slightly above the Dubai-wide average of 1:13.6 across all schools with available data. The school also employs 26 teaching assistants and 4 guidance counsellors, providing meaningful pastoral and learning support infrastructure, particularly relevant given that 84 students of determination are enrolled. DSIB specifically highlighted successful communication with the school's community and partnerships with parents as a key strength. The school's vision — to prepare students as confident leaders and global citizens while honouring UAE cultural heritage — is reflected in outstanding inspection scores for students' understanding of Islamic values and Emirati culture, rated Outstanding in the High School phase. Wellbeing provision was rated Good overall, underpinned by a qualified senior wellbeing team, systematic data collection, and a nurturing classroom climate. The school holds NEASC accreditation, affirming that its American curriculum meets internationally recognised quality standards.
