Understanding the World

Exploring and investigating the world around them. Finding out about people and places, working with a range of materials and using ICT to support learning.

Physical development

Improving skills of control, coordination, manipulation, and movement. Developing and understanding of the importance of physical activity and making healthy choices in relation to food.

Personal, social, and emotional development

Developing social skills, a positive sense of themselves, respect for others, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Communication

Communicating with others and developing skills in listening and talking.

Language and Literacy

Developing early writing and reading skills

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy

Developing and using ideas about numbers, calculating, quantity, measurement, shape, and space.

How do children learn?

The curriculum is delivered through play-based learning.

Why?

Research has shown that when playing, children are learning at their highest level. Play and exploration promote brain development.

When playing, children are:

The Extra Mile

As part of our curriculum, we provide an array of exciting activities to support the Early Years Foundation Stage. Music and Movement, Mini-Yoga, Dance, Football, are enjoyed by the classes’ daily and weekly routines.

We also provide daily Arabic lessons to each of the classes.

Simba Nursery is committed to helping instill the children with sense of cultural appreciation and awareness. We celebrate our multinational student body with lessons and activities tailored to exploring the globe! Some of the most important lessons learned in nursery school are not academic in nature; rather, the lessons will help the children cultivate a real-world view.

Our children are encouraged to value their own cultures and appreciate and respect the cultures of others. Our children are empowered to be critical thinkers and independent learners. Most importantly, we nurture children who respect themselves, others, and the environment.

Simba Nursery children are taught to understand the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behaviours; to be able to express empathy for others, and to build positive, respectful relationships with those they meet.
