Curriculum & Approach
The Roots Curriculum draws on four schools of thought: Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf principles and Forest School principles. Montessori materials and activities encourage sensory exploration and self-directed learning, while Reggio Emilia-inspired practice values creative expression through art, music and imaginative play. Waldorf principles bring rhythm and routine to the daily timetable, balancing structured activities with free play, while Forest School thinking underpins regular nature-based activities that build a deep appreciation for the natural environment. Practical life skills, language and literacy, mathematical logic, music and movement, health and wellbeing, and multiculturalism are also woven through the programme. The curriculum is designed to respect each child's individual pace and interests, offering a bespoke learning journey rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. The nursery states that its educators are experienced Montessori guides with a deep understanding of child development, creating environments rich in opportunities for exploration, discovery and growth.
