Curriculum & Approach
Kids Island Nursery followed a progressive, play-based British curriculum delivered through its own approach, known as The Inspire Philosophy. This pedagogy drew inspiration from several early years traditions, including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf and Forest School practices, blended with the structure of the British EYFS framework. In line with Reggio-inspired thinking, the nursery treated its environment as a third teacher, using natural light, loose parts and child-led displays to encourage curiosity and exploration. Documentation of children's learning journeys was used to reflect progress and guide next steps, while teachers acted as observant guides rather than instructors. Family partnership was a core part of the approach, with weekly Stay & Play sessions, monthly parent participation opportunities and shared digital documentation designed to connect home and nursery life. The overall aim was to nurture natural curiosity and a lifelong love of learning through hands-on, child-led play.
