Curriculum & Approach
Chubby Cheeks Nursery follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, a framework established by the British Government that centres on seven areas of learning and development. These include Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Physical Development and Creative Development. The EYFS programme at this Jumeirah Lake Towers nursery is delivered using best practices drawn from other respected early years philosophies, including the Montessori approach and the Reggio Emilia approach, allowing teaching to be adapted to each child's individual pace and interests. Literacy is supported through the Jolly Phonics programme, story time and a wide range of books, while mathematics is introduced through structured play involving numbers, shapes, sorting and measurement. Physical development is encouraged through activities that build both gross motor skills, such as climbing, running and riding tricycles, and fine motor skills using resources like play dough, crayons, beads and puzzles. Creative expression is nurtured through art, music, movement, dance and imaginative role play, reflecting the nursery's belief that every child is different and that curriculum delivery should be equally diverse.
Ages & Programs
Age range: 45 days to 4 years
Chubby Cheeks Elc Dmcc organises children into age-appropriate classes from 45 days to 4 years old. The Baby Room caters for children from 2 months until they begin walking, and is led by a baby room coordinator who is a qualified nurse, with staff trained in paediatric care and daily routines for sleep, food and toileting recorded and shared with parents. The Toddler Class supports children aged 1 to 2 years as they learn their first words, build early friendships and learn through play in spacious, themed classrooms. The Preschool Class, for children aged 2 to 3 years, builds on this with more structured table-top activities, circle time and a mini library, preparing children to move into the Foundation Classes. Foundation Classes support children aged 3 years and above in developing the social skills, confidence, independence and communication abilities needed for the transition to primary school, with the nursery noting that its graduates go on to join a range of schools across the UAE.
