Sharjah Indian School delivers the Indian CBSE curriculum from Kindergarten through Grade 12, making it one of only a small number of schools in Sharjah operating under direct Central Board of Secondary Education accreditation. The academic programme spans the full age range from 3 to 18, culminating in two senior secondary pathways at Grades XI and XII: a Science Stream and a Commerce Stream, each offering multiple subject group combinations. Science students can specialise across five distinct groups incorporating subjects such as Biology, Computer Science, Engineering Graphics, Home Science, and Psychology alongside core Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Commerce students similarly choose from four groups, with options including Entrepreneurship — a relatively uncommon offering at this level. Computer Science is introduced from Grade III, and language breadth is notable: students may study Hindi, Arabic, French, or Malayalam, with Malayalam available as an optional subject from Grade II.

In the 2022–2023 School Performance Review conducted by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, SIS was rated Good overall — a meaningful step up from its Acceptable rating in 2019. Among Indian curriculum schools in Sharjah's broader UAE context, this places SIS in a competitive position: city index data shows that of 34 Indian curriculum schools, 14 hold a Good rating and 10 a Very Good rating, meaning SIS sits within the majority band but has not yet reached the upper tier. The inspection praised students' improved achievement, particularly in Arabic subjects and Kindergarten, and noted that students' personal and social development is rated Very Good — the highest domain score in the review. Science is a clear academic strength: Science achievement in the High phase is rated Very Good, with CBSE Grade 12 results in Biology described as very good and Physics and Chemistry as good. English and Science results across Grades 10 and 12 have been described as mostly very good to outstanding over the last four years.

The picture in Mathematics is more concerning. Inspectors found achievement acceptable across KG, Primary, and Middle phases, and while High phase performance is good, CBSE external exam results in Mathematics dropped to weak in the most recent Grade 10 and Grade 12 sittings — a significant finding that parents should weigh carefully. The school's student-to-teacher ratio of 1:20 is notably higher than the Sharjah city average of 13.6, which may contribute to the challenge of providing consistent individual challenge, particularly in the Primary phase where inspectors found teaching effectiveness and levels of challenge to be the most pressing area for development. Technology integration across lessons was also flagged as limited, a gap that peers with stronger digital infrastructure are widening.

SIS participates in a broad suite of international benchmarking assessments including PISA, TIMSS, PIRLS, ASSET, IBT, and CAT4, which provides meaningful external reference points beyond CBSE examinations. The school also maintains dedicated provision for students with special educational needs — 82 students are currently identified with SEN — alongside Gifted and Talented and Student Counselling programmes.
