Private International English School follows the Indian CBSE curriculum from KG through Grade 12, making it one of only 36 Indian-curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi — and one of a much smaller group to have earned genuine academic distinction. The school's pedagogical journey begins with a Montessori-based approach in KG, transitions through the NCERT-aligned primary and middle school framework, and culminates in CBSE Board Examinations at Grades 10 and 12. Second language options — Hindi or French — are introduced at the middle and secondary levels alongside compulsory Arabic, Islamic Studies, and UAE Social Studies, giving students a broad, structured pathway from age three to eighteen.

Academic performance data paints a consistently impressive picture. In the ASSET 2023 standardized assessments for Grades 3–9, the school achieved outstanding results in English and very good results in mathematics and science. On the PISA 2022 international assessments, students aged 15 recorded a reading literacy score of 554 — exceeding the school's own ambitious target of 533 and well above the international average. TIMSS Grade 8 results placed students at the high international benchmark in both science (580) and mathematics (576), a meaningful indicator of upper-secondary readiness. The 2023–24 ADEK inspection confirmed Outstanding attainment and progress in English and mathematics at Cycle 3, and Outstanding science progress across all cycles — the strongest subject profile in the school. Among Indian-curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi, only three have held a consistent Very Good ADEK rating since 2018; PIES is one of them.

What distinguishes PIES academically goes beyond exam scores. The school has built a genuine reading culture: a central library of 10,946 books, in-class libraries in every classroom from KG to Grade 12, the Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) program, a school-wide Reading Marathon involving parents, teachers, and students across Arabic, Hindi, and English, and dedicated after-school reading clubs. Enrichment extends to Mathematics Olympiads, a Science Club, and a Gifted and Talented program. Digital interactive boards have been installed across all Grades 6–12 classrooms, and the school operates a Learning Management System with parent and digital campus portals. In-house teacher training on critical thinking and PISA/TIMSS-style problem-solving is embedded in lesson planning — an approach that appears to be paying dividends in international assessment results.

The 2023–24 ADEK inspection also identified clear areas requiring development. Arabic as a second language attainment and progress were rated only Good across all cycles — a persistent gap, particularly in reading comprehension, extended writing, and spoken fluency. KG-phase attainment across all subjects was flagged for improvement, with inspectors noting weaker early numeracy and writing development. Inspectors also called for stronger ICT integration in teaching, more robust differentiation for high attainers, and better alignment with ADEK inclusion policy for students with additional learning needs — an area that regressed from the previous inspection cycle. The effectiveness of middle leadership in monitoring teaching quality and student progress was also identified as needing strengthening. These are not minor concerns, and parents of children in KG or those requiring learning support should weigh them carefully. Compared to peer Indian-curriculum schools in Abu Dhabi, PIES leads on international assessment outcomes and inspection consistency, but lags in SEN provision relative to what ADEK now expects as standard practice.
