Al Saad Indian School delivers the Indian CBSE curriculum (NCERT) from Grades 1 through 12, preceded by a Montessori/EYFS-informed Kindergarten for children from age three. The pathway is genuinely all-through: primary continuous assessment in Grades 1–5 gives way to formal unified assessment in the middle school, CBSE Board Examinations at Grades 10 and 12, and a choice of Science, Commerce, or Humanities streams at senior secondary level — a breadth of post-16 options that compares favourably with many Indian curriculum peers. Languages of instruction are English-primary, with Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam, and French available as second or third languages across different phases.
The school's most compelling academic evidence comes from international benchmarking. In PIRLS 2021, Grade 4 students recorded a score of 576, placing them in the High International Benchmark bracket and well above the Abu Dhabi private school average of 483 and the all-UAE school average of 460. In PISA 2022, 15-year-olds exceeded their reading target with a score of 473.6 and their science target with 493.9, though mathematics fell short at 467.5 against a target of 491.7. TIMSS 2019 results placed Grade 8 science at the High International Benchmark with a score of 571, while Grade 4 and Grade 8 mathematics sat at the Intermediate benchmark. In the EI ASSET 2023/24, English attainment was rated outstanding across Grades 3–7, and science outstanding in Grades 3, 5, and 6 — a meaningful external validation of classroom standards in the lower and middle school.
ADEK's 2024–25 Irtiqaa inspection rated the school Very Good overall, an improvement from Good in 2021. Among Indian curriculum schools in the Abu Dhabi/Al Ain region, this places ASIS in a strong minority: city index data shows that only 10 of 34 Indian curriculum schools hold a Very Good rating, with just one rated Outstanding. Phase 4 (Grades 10–12) English and Science attainment were both rated Outstanding by inspectors, and health and safety arrangements were rated Outstanding across all phases — the only domain to achieve that top grade. UAE Social Studies attainment and progress were rated Very Good across all four phases, reflecting the school's consistent emphasis on Emirati heritage and culture.
Distinctive academic features include the school-wide Student Enrichment Program (SEP) running from Grades 1 to 12 each afternoon, a fully digitised campus with a Learning Management System (LMS) enabling blended course delivery, online grading, and real-time parent performance reporting, and a Tinkering Lab supporting hands-on STEM exploration. The ClassKlap assessment program in Grades 1–5 generates personalised revision materials for each student — a data-driven differentiation tool introduced at the start of the current academic year. The school also participates in the Al Ain Readathon and maintains a central library of approximately 6,000 books with a computerised open-access system.
Inspectors identified several areas requiring attention. Mathematics attainment regressed from Very Good to Good in Phases 3 and 4, with lesson activities not sufficiently aligned to students' learning needs — a finding that also contributed to weaker PISA mathematics performance. The quality of teacher marking and feedback was flagged as inconsistent, with students not always receiving clear guidance on how to improve. Inspectors also noted inefficient use of lesson time, insufficient challenge for high attainers and gifted students, and a relatively low identification rate for students of determination at 2.79% — below what would be expected for a school of this size. The absence of a formal whole-school reading scheme in either English or Arabic, and the lack of electronic resources in the library, represent gaps compared to higher-performing Indian curriculum peers.
