In February 2022, premium education provider Aldar Education announced that it planned to open three schools in Abu Dhabi in areas that have recorded population growth over the past few years. These areas include Khalifa City, Saadiyat Island, and Yas Island. Noya, located in the Noya North development, will be the first new-build investment and will eventually grow to a total capacity of 3,000 students.
Noya at Yas Island is a project by Aldar Education's owner, Aldar Properties, offering a mix of two and three-bedroom townhouses and four-bedroom villas. The development is located opposite Gateway Park.
As part of the proposed expansion plans, in Khalifa City, Aldar Education agreed to its first school acquisition with the purchase of Al Shohub Private School, followed by the purchase of Virginia International Private School (its second US curriculum school). In contrast, on Saadiyat Island, the group plans to expand group member Cranleigh Abu Dhabi.
Aldar Education has also announced that it will develop another school on Saadiyat Island that will cater to families in the surrounding communities that seek English National Curriculum education. Given that it already operates the Cranleigh School Abu Dhabi in the same area, it will be interesting to see how the two schools are differentiated.
The education group said it will invest Dh1 billion to diversify its schools' portfolio. Through this investment, Aldar aims to increase the number of students in its schools to more than 40,000 by the 2024-2025 academic year.
Commenting on the launch of Noya British School, Sahar Cooper, Chief Executive Officer of Aldar Education, said:
"With the launch of Aldar Schools, we embark on a journey to redefine education accessibility. Noya British School, our pioneering institution under this segment, embodies our commitment to providing exceptional education at an affordable cost.
"Our mission is clear: to create an inclusive, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment that equips students for a bright future. We aspire to make top-tier education a reality for more families, ensuring every child can thrive and become a leader of tomorrow."
Following the direction of most Aldar Academies, including Abu Dhabi-located Muna British Academy, Pearl British Academy, Mamoura British Academy, and Yasmina British Academy, the school will offer the English National Curriculum.
According to Aldar Education, students at Noya British School are set to receive a comprehensive and well-balanced education. In addition to its rigorous academic programs, the school will provide a wide range of extracurricular activities that promote physical, social, and emotional growth, such as creative arts, music, and digital literacy. This holistic approach ensures students have a solid foundation for their future success.
Currently, three other schools are in the immediate area, including Aldar's Yas American Academy (US curriculum), SABIS International School (which follows the SABIS mixed US/UK curriculum), and Yas School, which follows the Ministry of Education curriculum. Noya will be the first National Curriculum for England curriculum school on Yas Island.
