At the heart of Redwood COE's approach is what the nursery calls the 'Emergent framework', developed by early education specialist Geraldine Hill. This framework is built on an EYFS foundation and aims to draw together effective elements from a range of global early years approaches, exposing children to a broad spread of stimulating experiences rather than a single narrow focus. Redwood Early Learning Center is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) and is pursuing authorisation to become an IB World School. The IB PYP is designed for children aged 3 to 6 years and uses a transdisciplinary, child-centred structure built around skills, knowledge, concepts, attitudes and action. For the oldest children, aged 4 to 6 years, the nursery offers what it describes as a KHDA-approved advanced Montessori programme, supporting literacy, foundational maths and independent, growth-mindset learning in mixed-age classes as children prepare for entry into primary school.

Redwood COE organises children into six developmental stages, each with its own name and focus, from the earliest weeks of life through to school entry age. The nursery describes these stages as Explorers, Thinkers, Investigators, Communicators, Leaders and Pioneers. Explorers (45 days to 12 months) focuses on gentle care, motor skill development and a calm, natural environment for babies. Thinkers (12 to 17 months) supports early mobility, exploration and the start of verbal skills. Investigators (18 months to 2 years) builds sensory development, early emotional intelligence and problem-solving through real-life interactions. Communicators (2 to 3 years) introduces early writing and counting through concrete, child-led activities, while Leaders (3 to 4 years) develops emotional intelligence, cooperation and foundational literacy and maths skills. Pioneers (4 to 6 years) prepares children for primary school through an advanced Montessori programme, integrated literacy, and leadership modelling in mixed-age classes. An afterschool care option extends learning hours until 6pm for working parents.
