British Berries Nursery

British Berries Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, the widely used structure for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. The EYFS is built around seven areas of learning, with the three prime areas of communication and language, physical development, and personal, social and emotional development laid down first, followed by the specific areas of literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design. Each child's development is tracked through ongoing formal and informal observations, reflecting the EYFS principle that every child is an individual who develops at their own pace. Learning takes place through a mixture of play, active exploration, and creative and critical thinking, both indoors and outdoors. The nursery describes its educational philosophy as social constructivist, providing an environment rich in materials and possibilities so that children can form ideas through their own experiences and inquiry. Staff engage in continual observation and documentation to shape the learning environment, encouraging children to experiment, problem-solve and interact with others in small groups where each child's voice is heard.
