The ministry of education has banned all schools from charging students for attending graduation ceremonies. Graduations are going to take place after Eid Al Fitr. This is to ensure that parents are not overwhelmed with end of the year financial payments. Graduation ceremonies outside of school premises have also been banned, to avoid parents from having to pay for ceremony costs, and to ensure they are carried out in the most safe manner. The ministry stressed that students should not be denied permission to enter the ceremony hall, because they did not pay the entry “fee”. This is to encourage fairness and equality among students. The ministry also stressed that ceremonies must not have elements or content which is deemed incompatible with Islamic Sharia. Anyone who wants to contribute to the graduation or sponsor it can do so after obtaining approval from the concerned authorities.
